Cooking Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and flatten the sausage on a baking sheet. This doesn’t need to be perfect but do attempt to spread the sausage evenly across the sheet pan for even cooking. Bake the sausage for 20-25 min or until fully cooked.
2. While the sausage is cooking, melt butter in a pan to cook your eggs. Cook the eggs however you prefer. Through trial, my husband has discovered that his favorite way is to simply break the egg in the pan and fry the egg on both sides, fully cooking the yolk. This can take some time but cooks most of the water out of the egg and doesn’t make any excess liquid once recooked after frozen.
3. Build your sandwiches and add any additional topping you may like. Onion, jalapeno, or peppers would be great adds to these tasty breakfast sandwiches.
4. Once built, wrap the sandwich in tin foil and add to a gallon size freezer ziplock bag. I can fit 6 sandwiches to one bag. Get as much air out of the bag as possible, then freeze.
These sandwiches are good in the freezer for about three months.
To reheat, place your frozen sandwich in the oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
And there you have it! An easy morning breakfast that’s protein packed and easy to eat on the go. My husband has been eating these nearly every morning for close to a year and still isn’t tired of them! If you find yourself rushing to make breakfast in the morning or stressing over ideas, these are an easy, budget friendly, and protein packed breakfast that the entire family will love!
The customizations are endless! Add onion, jalapeno, peppers, you name it! And make a fun, on the go breakfast for everyone.
